Education Grants

We believe that helping our youngest community members connect with the natural world is key to nurturing a culture of conservation.

The Green Mountain Audubon Society is pleased to announce the availability of a limited number of grants to be used to support environmental and outdoor education projects for students in Franklin, Grand Isle, Chittenden, Lamoille, Orleans, and Essex counties. Our mission is to protect birds, wildlife, and their habitats by nurturing a culture of conservation. We believe that helping our youngest community members connect with the natural world is key to creating this culture.

Grants of up to $1,000 per request will be awarded to schools or organizations to help defer the costs of supplies, equipment, gear (like winter or rain apparel), transportation, admissions, or other expenses that will improve students’ understanding of the natural world. Preference will be given to those projects that demonstrate a sustained opportunity for students to connect with the land and wildlife in their community by embracing a consistent practice of time spent outdoors. We encourage applicants to be creative in designing their project proposals: Think about what will make it easier for you to spend time outdoors with your students! An online application link is provided below.

Grants will be awarded monthly on a rolling basis making it easier for educators and organizations to respond to immediate needs or opportunities in their community. Grantees will be asked to report on projects with a short one-page summary of activities and photo documentation.
